Medlas

We redesigned the site and carried out a comprehensive technical optimization for Medlas, a medical center in Kyiv, on WordPress: fixed a backlog of SEO issues, implemented Schema.org markup, and brought Google PageSpeed into the green zone on both desktop and mobile.

Task

Medlas — an aesthetic medicine and cosmetology clinic offering more than 30 service lines, from laser hair removal to ultrasound diagnostics — came to us asking for a comprehensive website overhaul. At the start of the project, the site had several problems typical of sites that had grown for years without a unified technical strategy: an outdated design that didn't match the clinic's level and wasn't converting visitors; poor loading speed, especially on mobile, where Google PageSpeed showed "red" and "yellow" scores; a backlog of technical SEO issues — duplicate pages, broken links, redirect chains, incorrect canonical URLs; and a lack of proper Schema.org markup, which meant the site was missing out on rich snippets in Google search results. The technical work was based on a detailed SEO audit covering URL structure, internal linking, technical and content-level issues, structured data, and web analytics setup.

Result

Website redesign. We fully redesigned the visual side of the site on WordPress: a modern, clean interface in a restrained "medical" color palette matching the clinic's positioning. We paid particular attention to easy navigation across 30+ service lines via a multi-level menu with logically grouped categories; a consistent structure for service pages — description, indications and contraindications, procedure steps, before/after results, specialists, reviews, FAQ; appointment booking blocks and contact forms placed on key screens; and social proof — a 4.8 rating based on more than 700 client reviews. The mobile version received just as much attention as desktop, since most patients access the site from a smartphone.

Technical SEO optimization. Following the technical audit's task list, we set up human-readable URLs with a consistent transliteration scheme for new pages — deliberately leaving old URLs untouched to avoid creating unnecessary redirects and 404s; optimized breadcrumbs, using a brand-name anchor for the first link to support homepage rankings; and configured pagination correctly with self-canonical tags and unique meta tags per page. On the technical side, we set up 301 redirects, including normalizing URLs to lowercase; trimmed robots.txt down to a clean minimum with a sitemap.xml reference; removed the rel="shortlink" attribute and blocked technical links from crawling to preserve crawl budget; applied rel="nofollow" to outbound links across social media, maps, and app store links; configured proper HTTP caching headers (Last-Modified, Cache-Control); fixed incorrect canonical URLs pointing to www; and built out 404 and 50X error pages with navigation and contact info.

On the content side, we fixed errors in title tags, h1 headings, and meta descriptions — removing duplicates, empty values, and length violations, and rolling out new unique and template-based meta tags for both language versions; restructured the h1–h6 heading hierarchy on service pages to match the logical content structure; set up redirects for duplicate service pages based on Google Search Console traffic data; and added alt attributes to images.

We implemented Schema.org structured data in JSON-LD format — BreadcrumbList for breadcrumbs, and MedicalBusiness/LocalBusiness with the organization's address, geo-coordinates, hours, and contact details; fixed the Review and AggregateRating markup, resolving errors Google Search Console had flagged for review snippets; and configured Open Graph tags with correct titles, descriptions, and images across all pages, so links to the site now render correctly when shared on social media. Separately, we set up Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics with 404-error tracking through the dataLayer, giving the clinic visibility into what users are searching for and where problems occur.

Speed optimization. We ran a comprehensive optimization of the site's code and assets: compressed images and converted them to modern formats, minified CSS and JavaScript, removed render-blocking resources, configured browser caching for static assets via HTTP headers, and shortened redirect chains that were slowing page loads. As a result, Google PageSpeed Insights scores reached the green zone (90+) for both desktop and mobile.

Outcome for the client. The project demonstrated that redesign and technical optimization work best together: a refreshed interface improves conversion, while a clean technical foundation and fast load times give the site steady, sustained growth in search visibility. The site got a modern design focused on driving appointment bookings; technical SEO issues were eliminated; Schema.org and Open Graph markup now support rich snippets in search results; and web analytics are in place to track user behavior and technical issues going forward.

Easy on a phone as on a computer

Most of the clinic's patients access the site from a smartphone, so the mobile version got just as much attention as desktop: navigation across 30+ service lines, procedure cards, and booking forms are all equally easy to use on any screen.
